RURAL FAMILIES ASSOCIATION

Our Association was born in 1968 on the initiative of a group of parents and teachers of the Istituto Professionale di Stato per l'Agricoltura (State Professional Institute for Agriculture) of Colle Umberto, who had the professional and moral education of their boys and girls at heart. In years the Associazione Famiglie Rurali della Sinistra Piave (AFR SN) developed its activities more and more outward. The valorisation of family and rural world remained the main point; further to that AFR added social and promotional activities such as the organization of technical or educational courses, meetings and seminars.

AFR takes part in national and international initiatives meant to support rural world in poor countries; that is the creation of schools or educational centres, besides interventions meant to support the populations. Our Association is connected with other institutes and bodies operating in social matters and is part of the International Association of Maisons Familiales Rurales and of UIFRI (i.e. Interregional Union of Italian Rural Families); AFR co-operates with the latter in carrying out various activities. - Associazione Famiglie Rurali Sinistra Piave via Isonzo, 31 31020 San Giacomo di Veglia Vittorio Veneto (TV) tel. e fax 0438/501558

HISTORY OF THE  AlpinE HOLIDAY HOUSE

The House was built at the end of the twenties as a preventorium for the cure of respiratory tract illnesses.

Preventorium "Malfatti" was created and managed by the Province of Rovigo trough the Anti-tuberculosis Consortiums. With the institution of the National Health Service it was assigned to the ULSS (i.e. Social and Health Local Unity) of Pieve di Cadore. It had been closed for years when in … it was entrusted to AFR. We provided for restoration and maintenance. Today it is used for holidays, meetings, seminars and other tourism and entertainment initiatives.
